HZRD//Archive Software

HZRD//Skillet

Analog NTSC video for Resolume.

HZRD//Skillet doesn't paint scanlines over your clip. It encodes each frame into a real composite signal, 525 lines of voltage, and then damages it the way tape, antennas, cables and circuit-bent gear do. A truly amazing alternative to real hardware. Thank you so much Skillet!

v1.2.4 · Windows 10/11 · Resolume Arena or Avenue 7+ · 2 plugins (effect + mixer)

What you get

  • 156 presets: tape wear, RF and broadcast, sync and deflection faults, decoder errors, feedback loops and circuit bending. Morph glides between them, or set it to cut.
  • 16 pads, each firing its own preset. Map them to your controller's pads.
  • Favorites: star the looks you use. They get their own dropdown and Prev / Next / Random buttons, and show <3 in every preset list.
  • Perform knobs over any preset: noise, tape wobble, tracking, roll, bend, tint, color, camera loop and time.
  • Four assignable knobs that can take over any of the engine's 281 controls.
  • Sources: your layer, TV static, blank-tape static, video synth
  • HZRD//SkilletMix: the same effect as a blend mode, so the layers below can be fed into the signal as a second picture.

Install

  1. Quit Resolume.
  2. Unzip the download and copy HZRD-Skillet.dll and HZRD-Skillet-Mixer.dll into Documents\Resolume Arena\Extra Effects (or Documents\Resolume Avenue\Extra Effects). Create the folder if it isn't there.
  3. Start Resolume. Drag HZRD//Skillet from the Effects browser onto a layer or clip, or choose HZRD//SkilletMix from a layer's Blend Mode list.

Play it from MIDI

Every control can be mapped. In Resolume, open Shortcuts → Edit MIDI, click a control, then move the pad, knob or fader it should follow. A good start: Pad 1–16 to your pads, Next and Fav next to buttons, and Amount and the Perform knobs to faders.

Requirements

Windows 10 or 11, Resolume Arena or Avenue 7 or newer, and any GPU from roughly the last ten years. If nothing happens, the effect's Status field says why.

HZRD BeatStep Cleaner

Cleans up the Arturia BeatStep's jittery encoders before they reach Resolume, so a knob turned one way doesn't flicker back the other. It sits between the BeatStep and a loopMIDI port. Notes, buttons and everything else pass through untouched. It's a portable Windows app, with nothing to install.
